Grandmother of Jesus

The Qur’anic account of Jesus actually starts with the story of his grandmother, the wife of lmran:“When the wife of lmran said: ‘O My Lord, I have vowed to You what is in my womb to be dedicated for You, so accept this from me. Verily, You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knowing. Then when she delivered her (child Mary),’ she said: “O My Lord! I have delivered a female child, — and Allaah knew better what she delivered, — “And the male is not like the female, and I have named her Mary, and I seek refuge with You for her and for her offspring from Satan, the outcast. So her Lord accepted her with goodly acceptance…” (Qur’aan 3: 35-37)
